6 Steps to Hormonal Harmony
Balancing hormones is a foundational starting point to care. Many chronic illnesses have roots in an endocrine (hormone) sytem that is not functioning properly. At New England Functional Medicine we have developed a revolutionary way to look at your endocrine system as a whole to address issues like hot flashes, weight gain, and insomnia. From here we can branch out to the other body systems as a way to fully address the root cause of various problems.
Step One (Visit 1): We focus on diving into your history to learn what is going on from a Functional Medicine perspective, what initial labs to order, and where to begin with nutritional changes.
Step Two (Visits 2 and 3): We are looking for initial changes in symptoms from lifestyle changes, such as sleeping better, less bloating, more energy, and less brain fog.
Step Three (Visits 4 and 5): We will have your lab results back and have a clearer picture for how to customize your protocol and fine-tune supplement recommendations. This is often when a GI protocol or hormone protocol would be initiated.
Step Four (Visits 6 to 8): This time may involve a lot of ups and downs as we work our way through a root cause issue, address any new symptoms that are revealed, note earlier symptoms that are gone, and see weight shift if needed.
Step Five (Visit 9): We are assessing what supplements are no longer needed, if any retesting or additional labs are needed, working to lock in beneficial lifestyle changes, recognize the progress, and figuring out how to support that for lasting success.
Step Six (Visit 10): Our goal is to wrap up care on all areas possible and provide suggestions for any remaining or new issues. It’s a time to celebrate your success and set the plan to maintain your newfound health!
